4/9/2023 0 Comments Buck 119 as shtf knifeI shined up the blade with WD-40 soaked 0000 steel wool, and I sewed on a piece of leather from an old belt I had to form a new belt loop. The knife was a Buck 120 General the bigger brother to the Buck 119. The leather sheath had some bites taken from it by rodents, and the belt had a light showing of surface rust but besides that it was in good shape. I reached around to discover it was a knife still in a sheath minus it's belt loop. It totally took me by surprise, and as I lied there at the bottom of that mudslide in semi-shock I felt something hard underneath me. Several years later while I was hunting wild boar in the forest of Laupahoehoe on the island of Hawai'i I was walking through some thick vegetation and stepped off an unseen overgrown ledge and slid down a muddy slope for several yards. Buck knives hold a special spot in my heart my first "real" hunting knife being a Buck 105 Pathfinder gifted to me by my dad when I was a young teenager many many moons ago.
